ABOUT THE CONCERT

Jazz at Lincoln Center welcomes the return of Rubén Blades, an electrifying performer and gifted artist. The Panamanian legend delights audiences with his multilingual mastery of phrasing, song interpretation, and Latin American traditions and his tremendous expressive range. For this Rose Theater performance, the award-winning vocalist, composer, and activist is joined by two ensembles with whom he’s earned multiple Grammy Awards: Brazilian vocal and instrumental ensemble Boca Livre and Costa Rican outfit Editus Ensemble. This event is a co-production with Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, combining cultural dynamism and artistic excellence.

EDITUS

La formation Costaricienne jouit aujourd’hui d’une réelle reconnaissance internationale. De formation classique, son répertoire emprunte au jazz et aux rythmes traditionnels d’Amérique centrale. Militants d’un écotourisme universel, bien avant que ce mouvement écologique ne devienne phénomène de mode, ils sont notamment les représentants du mouvement. « Earth protection, and vegetarism ». La notoriété du groupe doit beaucoup au Panaméen Ruben Blades, Editus ayant été le « back band » du maestro durant de nombreuses années, tant sur scène qu’en studio. Editus a revisité à sa manière le riche répertoire de Blades au point de lui donner une nouvelle fibre originale aux forts accents « wolrd ».

Leur nouvel opus « El corazon de los 200 anos » , élu disque de l’année dans le cadre des seizièmes » los premios Acam » va permettre de lancer leur carrière en Europe, où ils ne sont jamais venu se produire

Les trois compères -Edin solis, guitare, Ricardo Ramirez, violon et Carlos Vargas aux percussions- présentent leur nouveau projet musical entourés de deux violons, basse, claviers et boucles electro…
